Preferred bidder status for a railway bypass around Nimes and Montpellier in
France has gone to a consortium made up of Bouygues Construction (lead firm
Bouygues Travaux Publics plus DTP Terrassement), Colas (Colas Rail and Colas
Midi-Méditerranée), Alstom Transport, Spie batignolles, and financial
INVESTORS Meridiam and Fideppp.

The choice of the preferred bidder was made by French rail infrastructure
MANAGER Reseau Ferre de France (RFF), which said the €2 billion
infrastructure project would be the first high-speed line for use both by
freight and passenger trains. It is SCHEDULED for commissioning in 2017.

The public-private partnership (PPP) deal for a 25-year term involves the
design, financing, construction, operation, servicing and maintenance of a
new shared-track rail infrastructure for freight and passenger trains
between the southern French cities of Nîmes and Montpellier.

Some 60 km of track will be main line and 20 km will be CONNECTING track.
